The London to Singapore Expedition has officially begun! Yesterday afternoon, trustees Marilyn and Sharan were there to wish Tom Waring and his team well as they set off from the iconic Grenadier in London, aiming for their first overnight stop in Belgium.
This legendary overland journey, first attempted in 1955 by two Land Rover teams from Oxford and Cambridge, is being reinvented by Tom and his crew of three to raise money for Darjeeling Children’s Trust and two other charities.
They’ll be covering 14,500 challenging miles in two Land Rover Defender 110’s, navigating through remote regions and rough roads, passing through 21 countries before reaching the finish line in Singapore, aiming to make it there before December 25th.
